Do I need my own OpenAI key?
No, you don’t need your own OpenAI key. We handle that through MakerThread’s backend, which checks your subscription and usage before sending the draft request to the AI provider. The extension never exposes an OpenAI key.
Can I control how replies sound?
Yes. In the extension’s Settings screen, you can tell MakerThread how you want to sound and add your business details, refund and delivery notes, and signature. You can also tell it what to always mention and what never to say.
Does the extension work without a subscription?
It’s free to install. To generate replies, you’ll need an account with trial or paid access.
Will MakerThread send replies for me?
No. MakerThread writes a draft, and you decide what happens next. Read it through, change anything you want and click send yourself. Nothing is sent automatically.
What if it doesn’t know the answer?
You can give it the details in a quick note. If a customer asks when their order will arrive, for example, tell it when you’re sending it and when you expect it to arrive. It uses your instructions and the conversation to help write the reply. You still need to check the facts before sending.
Can I change a draft?
Yes. You can edit the wording yourself or give MakerThread another instruction and ask it to rewrite the draft. You’re in control of the final message.
